What we are

Hire a PI HQ is an online marketplace and referral service. We are not a private investigation agency, we are not licensed as one, and we do not perform investigations. Investigations are performed solely by independent investigators (licensed where their state requires it), who are responsible for their own work, licensing, pricing and compliance.

Licensed where required

We list and match only investigators who attest to holding the licenses required in their state, and we attempt to verify licenses. You should independently verify any investigator before hiring.

Prohibited requests

You may not use this service to: locate, track, or contact any person who has a protective or restraining order against you or who does not want to be found by you; stalk, harass, or intimidate anyone; place tracking devices or spyware without legal authority or consent; obtain phone, bank, medical or other protected records unlawfully (including through pretexting); or engage in any other unlawful activity. We may refuse, flag, or report requests that appear unlawful.

Cost estimates are informational ranges based on published pricing sources and are not quotes.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is." We are not liable for the acts or omissions of investigators or for outcomes of any investigation, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
